On May 25, Correira Law Inc. hosted an estate planning seminar at the Venus De Milo in Swansea, Massachusetts. The program provided a general overview of basic estate planning techniques, and focused on new developments in trust law that require all clients to carefully review existing estate plans. Because of changes to the federal and state estate tax laws, many tax-related trusts are no longer appropriate. In addition, various challenges at the state level against persons applying for long-term care benefits have necessitated the need to review asset protection trusts for potential drafting issues. The seminar addressed all of these developments, as well as a review of the current tax and healthcare proposals circulating in Washington and the way those proposals will impact estate planning in the future.

The program was held between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and was free of charge. Light refreshments were served.
