May 22, 2018: The Trust Planning Playbook Seminar, Rhode Island Bar Association, Cranston, RI
On May 22, Attorney Eric D. Correira joined with Attorney Joshua R. Caswell, to present a comprehensive trust planning seminar to members of the Rhode Island Bar Association called “The Trust Planning Playbook: Understanding and Using Trusts in Estate Planning.”
From the Rhode Island Bar Association website:
“Changes to the federal and state estate tax law, as well as Medicaid law, have altered the trust planning landscape. As a result, the effectiveness of some types of trusts has been diminished, while new planning strategies have emerged.
This seminar will provide an overview of the types of trusts used to avoid probate, reduce or eliminate estate taxes, protect assets from creditors, and qualify for government benefits such as Medicaid. The speakers will discuss revocable trusts, marital and credit-shelter trusts, more advanced tax trusts, irrevocable Medicaid trusts, and special needs trusts. In addition, the program will include hypothetical planning scenarios, sample trust provisions, and a case law update.”
