On February 7, 2017, Attorneys David J. Correira and Eric D. Correira joined to present a two hour program for the Massachusetts Bar Association entitled “Special Clauses in Irrevocable Trusts.” The program highlighted several types of clauses in Irrevocable Trusts including spendthrift clauses, powers of appointment, discretionary distributions, mandatory distributions, and ascertainable standards.  In addition, there was a discussion on the impact these clauses have on the tax treatment of the trusts and on their impact on public benefits including Medicaid. The seminar was held in Boston, and was also made available as a live webinar.
