Atty. David J. Correira Teaches Law as Guest Lecturer in Lithuania and Latvia
Local attorney David J. Correira recently returned from a three week visit to Lithuania and Latvia where he was a visiting law professor at two universities.
In Lithuania he was a guest lecturer at Mykolas Romeris University School of Law where he discussed the Civil Aspects of Child Abduction under the International Hague Convention and how to litigate such a dispute in U.S. Federal District Court. The course was based on a pro bono case Attorney Correira handled for the National Center of Abused and Exploited Children in Washington D.C. about seven years ago.
In Latvia, Attorney Correira was at Rezekne University School of Law and taught two classes over a two week period for advanced graduate law students and for first degree law students. The first class for advanced students dealt with U.S. taxation and U.S. litigation for business and tax matters; Attorney Correira based his hypothetical for the class on selling local pottery in the U.S. The second course was a complete semester course on U.S. civil litigation condensed to two weeks for third year law students.
