David J. Correira

David J. Correira is a nationally recognized estates and trusts lawyer with three decades of experience litigating wills, estates and trusts and fiduciary liability cases. He has consulted with colleagues overseas on international tax matters for multinational clients. He has also worked with lawyers across the country on various issues related to trusts and estates.

He recently completed a LLM (Master of Laws) degree in comparative law focused on transnational commercial practice at Eötvös Loránd University Law School, Budapest, Hungary in conjunction with Lazarski University School of Law* in Warsaw, Poland and Boston University School of Law. Previously he completed advanced estate planning and taxation studies at Boston University School of Law and studies in private international law at Oxford University and post-doctoral studies in intellectual property, advanced litigation, and legal theory at Harvard Law School. Attorney Correira is continuing these studies focused on international and comparative trust law, banking & finance, and taxation at the University of London School of Law.** He has taught at law schools in Boston and Europe and has been invited for the next academic year to teach U.S. and international taxation in Shanghai, China at Lixin University School of Law.

Attorney Correira is the editor and author of two law practice volumes and is widely published on various areas of estate taxes, trusts, probate administration, disability planning, and private international law’s impact on wills and property. He has spoken at national and international conferences and taught law school courses and advanced legal studies programs on taxation and business planning. In addition, he has been rated as one of the top five estate planning lawyers in Southern New England by a leading regional publication.

Attorney Correira has been active in numerous community groups and civic affairs. During his career, he has represented major national and international corporations, banks and trust companies in fiduciary litigation; tax and trust matters; and regulatory and legislative affairs. For some time, he was a partner at an AmLaw top 100 U.S. law firm and the third largest law firm in Florida.
