June 16, 2016: Attorney-Client Relationship in Trust Matters Seminar, Rhode Island Bar Association, Providence, RI

On June 16, 2016, the first day of the Rhode Island Bar Association’s annual meeting, Attorney Eric D. Correira along with Attorney David J. Correira presented a program entitled “Establishing and Protecting the Attorney-Client Relationship in Trust Matters.” The workshop was a follow-up to an article authored by Attorney Eric D. Correira that appeared in the Rhode Island Bar Journal and a case won by the firm won at the Rhode Island Supreme Court. From the meeting brochure: “Ethical rules and laws related to client representation in trust matters is a particularly timely topic, as the Rhode Island Supreme Court has recently issued a decision redefining state law in this area in Audette v. Poulin. The scope of the presentation included: 1) an attorney retained by the grantor when the grantor is living; 2) an attorney retained by a trustee; 3) an attorney hired by a trustee in a dispute with a beneficiary; and 4) an attorney hired by a trustee prior to a dispute with a beneficiary.”
