Atty. Eric D. Correira Appointed Rhode Island Bar Journal Editor in Chief

Atty. Eric D. Correira has been appointed Editor in Chief of the Rhode Island Bar Journal, the official publication of the Rhode Island Bar Association. A longtime contributor to the Bar Journal, and member of its Editorial Board, Eric was invited to serve as Editor in Chief by the incoming Bar President and Bar Association staff.

Total readership of the Rhode Island Bar Journal constitutes an audience of over 6,000 including all lawyers admitted to practice in Rhode Island, all Rhode Island sitting judges, non-member subscribers, and state and local news media editors. The Bar Journal is published bi-monthly, six times annually with articles concerning relevant legal issues, opinion pieces, member profiles, updates on members’ achievements, book reviews, Bar news events, programs and meetings, as well as advertisements for products and services of interest to Bar members. The Bar Journal is read on arrival and, most often, kept for future reference.

In his role as Editor in Chief, Eric is responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on Bar Journal content, and leading the Editorial Board in writing and soliciting articles. He will also serve on the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Executive Committee and in its House of Delegates, helping to manage and develop the Bar’s strategic goals and policies.

The timing of the appointment is bittersweet however, as the In Memoriam section of the first issue of the Bar Journal under Eric’s supervision contains the obituary of his late father, partner, and mentor, Atty. David J. Correira, who passed away unexpectedly several weeks ago. Eric’s achievement is the direct result of David’s encouragement, support, and guidance throughout the years, both professionally and personally.
